Sample Safety/Preparedness Plan

COVID-19 Preparedness Plan
____________________ is committed to a healthy
work environment for all employees. The
following plan has been created in an effort to prevent or reduce transmission
among employees and maintain a healthy work environment.
Employees are expected
to:

Notify their supervisor
and stay home if they are experiencing symptoms.
·
Follow CDC-recommended
steps when sick. Employees will not be
allowed to return to work until the criteria to discontinue home isolation are
met, in consultation with healthcare providers.
·
Notify their supervisor
and stay home if a family member is experiencing symptoms.
·
Wash their hands frequently
to include at least before and after work shifts, before and after work breaks,
after blowing their nose, after sneezing, after coughing, after using the restroom,
before and after preparing any food, after touching their face or eyes, etc.
·
Use good respiratory
etiquette by covering their sneezes or coughs.
·
Avoid using another
employee’s desk or workstation.
·
When using common areas,
frequently use disinfectant wipes to clean commonly touched surfaces
In order to maintain a
healthy work environment, ____________________ will ask each employee to do a
self-screening prior to coming to work.
If the employee is experiencing any of the following symptoms, the employee
is asked to stay home to seek further diagnosis:

Cough
·
Difficulty
breathing/shortness of breath
·
Fever
·
Chills
·
Muscle pain
·
Sore throat
·
New loss of sense of
taste or smell
In order to promote a
healthy work environment, __________________ will be:
·
Sanitizing common areas
__________ (frequency)

Altering workstations to
maintain social distancing protocol
·
Providing hand sanitizer
and sanitizing supplies in common areas
·
Providing masks for
employees to wear as they choose
·
Requiring any visitors
to use masks
·
Using teleconference
meetings as much as possible
Any employee who appears
sick upon arrival at work or becomes sick during the day should immediately
notify his/her supervisor and should leave immediately. If an employee is not able to drive
himself/herself, ____________________ will assist by calling the listed
emergency contact or medical transport, if the employee needs to be taken to
the hospital.
If an employee or a
visitor who has been in the building within the last 7 days is found to be
COVID-19 positive on a test, any area that the employee worked in for prolonged
time (more than 15 minutes) will be closed for 24 hours. After that length of time, the area will be
thoroughly cleaned and sanitized. No
other employees or visitors will be allowed into those areas until the cleaning
is complete.
If an employee or
visitor tests positive but has not been in the building in the last 7 days, per
the CDC guidelines, no additional cleaning is necessary.
If an employee or
visitor notifies __________________ that he/she has had possible exposure to
COVID-19, those employees who have worked closely with that employee will be
notified. In order to maintain
confidentiality, ____________________ will not share the name of the individual
who had the possible exposure during this notification process. Any potentially exposed employee should stay
home for 14 days or until the employee has a negative test result.
Any employee who chooses
to travel internationally will be required to self-quarantine for 14 days. Telework will be offered, if possible, at the
discretion of management.
Business travel will be
limited and should be pre-approved before any reservations are made. Teleconferencing should be used whenever
possible.

realizes that some employees require the use of public transportation to get to
and from work. Those employees should
contact a member of management immediately in order to determine the best way possible
to minimize the risk of exposure.
Management may reimburse the employee for parking and/or expenses for
getting to work, should it be warranted.
Employees who uses ride share or public transportation should also wash
their hands prior to beginning work.
Management will
communicate any changes in policy or procedure as a result of COVID-19 via
email. Any change to work hours or
reporting times will be communicated via email as well.
If an employee has been
exposed to COVID-19, it is their duty to inform the employer immediately. They must call their supervisor or Human
Resources. The employee should not
return to work until after they have met the CDC guidelines for returning to
work.
